If nothing except more hot air added to the atmosphere is the
result of the Copenhagen Pow Wow, please read humans instead
of camels in the article below if you are the crazy type who keeps
a copy of what you read for decades. Tell your children to do
it if there is a chance they will still be alive in 2100+ and barely
able to breathe.
It will not be difficult to guess the position of Mauritius on climate
change - do very little and continue to laugh all the way to the bank
or follow what India does. I am banking that it will do the latter
with minor modifications to fool the world that it has a brand new
approach, a change of heart. I personally cannot see Mauritius
vote against anything which India proposes in any international
forum. It is almost a defacto colony of India. How can we ever
say to her: "Mum, I think you are wrong. "
One thing I seldom hear mention in all these 'talks' - nations do
not consider the greenhouse gases the tourists generate when
they visit. The Maldives is complaining but at the same time
trying to attract as many tourists as possible.
Sometimes I feel that only a third world war (overdue some say)
will solve the planet's problem. It should be brutal enough to reduce
the population of the world by half or more.
The UN has Pow Wows like this one all the time in order to generate
more of them to the delight of politicians and their hangers on. The
most difficult thing for the brain to notice is that it is caught in a
vicious circle.
They travel first class, stay in five star hotels, eat gourmet meals etc
at taxpayers expense. When their turn comes, they read a speech
prepared weeks ago. They laugh a lot, return home, say nothing
and all is forgotten....waiting for the next invitation. No wonder
they fight so hard (and kill if necessary) to stay in power.
Camel carcasses menace Outback water supplies
By Lester Haines
Posted in Biology, 4th December 2009
The carcasses of wild Oz camels who've succumbed to drought pose a serious threat to water supplies in the country's arid central desert, authorities have warned.
The Central Land Council says that thousands of "pools, creeks and other water supplies for local indigenous tribes" have been poisoned by the rotting animals. The council's land management chief David Alexander explained: "Some fall into waterholes and won't be able to get out so they'll rot within the water, others will chase the last remains of any water in these areas and start to compete with each other.
